Patience

San Diego, California

I had been waiting months to capture this image. I was looking for clear skies and calm winds. Finally the day had come. The skies were as clear as any day that I had seen in years. There was very little wind (which was perfect because I needed calm waters for this shot). I set up a little before sunset and framed my shot. I wanted to get the reflections from the city to stretch all the way to the shore where I was located. To get that, I had to patiently wait for a lull in the boat traffic in the harbor and air traffic over the city. Once I got that, it was just a matter of exposing the shot for long enough — making sure that I got the reflections that I required for this shot.
