California's Gold Rush

original
Where: California
When: September 15-22, 2018
Instructors: Paul Reiffer and Mark Handy
Group Size: 6

Paul Reiffer and I are your hosts for this amazing, all-inclusive 8-day photography workshop.

Starting in Las Vegas, Nevada, we’ll head straight into one of the most dramatic and dynamic places you can find in California –- Death Valley. It’s not only one of the hottest, but also one of the driest and harshest environments in the world. It’s a true photographic wonderland. Keeping with the other-worldly theme, we’ll then head north to Mono Lake, where storms combine with sunrises and sunsets over the ancient “tufa,” allowing us to capture some truly iconic images during the two days we’ll be in the area. Continuing on through the wonder of Lake Tahoe, we’ll eventually head west, following the gold trail to the city of San Francisco. Here, we’ll be exploring a combination of landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes (sometimes all in the same scene).

Phase One Digital Artists Series

As if that wasn’t enough, Paul and I are partnering up with Phase One Digital Artists Series (PODAS) to provide Phase One medium format camera systems during the trip. For a small fee (about $250 USD), you’ll be able to use Phase One’s latest XF camera body, a Phase One digital back, and lenses during the entire workshop. Paul and I have been using Phase One camera systems for many years. Those taking advantage of the Phase One upgrade, will have access to our technical expertise using the Phase One system. Additionally, you’ll also receive direct support from Phase One, which is providing hands-on assistance during the trip, helping you tap the full potential of this amazing camera system.
