Allure
I spotted this grove of rainbow eucalyptus trees on day three of a nearly two-week visit to Maui, Hawaii. Because I was going to be here for so many days, I had the luxury of waiting for optimal conditions to shoot in. In particular, I was waiting until it rained heavily. That way I could get saturated colors that pop. Days after finding this stand of trees, I got a double dose of rain, so I headed to my location. I got rain overnight — which is common — but I also got rain throughout much of the day. In fact, it rained on and off while I composed my image. After I got the composition I was looking for, I simply waited until the light was soft and diffused, which is just the way I wanted it. It took a few hours, but when the light was right, I captured this image.
