Echo
In 2016, I traveled to Argentina and Chile to capture color images depicting the amazing fall colors of Patagonia.
In 2017, I returned to the area but I had a different goal in mind. Instead of capturing mind-blowing fall colors, I set out to do black and white work during the transition period between fall and winter.
I knew the cloudy, rainy, and snowy weather would be perfect for the kind of work I wanted to do in the region. My goal at this location was to patiently wait for calm waters (never easy here) during the morning so that I could get reflections from the sky and mountains. Still, even with the calm waters I wanted, I also wanted mountain snow and interesting clouds. Getting all of these elements lined up at the same time would prove difficult — it took about a week — but I finally got the look I wanted for this black and white image.
